A woman, aged around 34, was gang-raped by security guards in Cubbon park on Wed night. The victim, who is from Tumkur, had come back to enquire regarding memberships during a racket club set within the park.
Since it had been late, the association members had asked her to return back next day. The victim was found roaming round the park once security guards, on the pretext of showing her the reply, took her to an isolated place and gangraped her.
The incident came to light once she visited the police station and reported the matter. The victim was admitted to Bowring hospital. The police swung into action and nabbed 2 security guards in reference to the case. They were employed by the husbandry department. Police are presently on the lookout for 2 additional suspects, who are on the run.
The police have summoned the agency that deputed the protection guards. “The accused are from Assam and that we wished to grasp whether or not the agency had done any background checks on them before their enlisting,” same Sandeep Patil, DCP.
